We use Lexis for case research; investigating courts, opposing parties, and experts, and finding defendants in public records. We use the AI, but find that the big AI companies do a much better job than Protégé.
As litigators having a complete case database that is easy to search is ideal. Lexis allows us to get that product for significantly less money than other products on the market.
We also use Lexis to get the cases in the opposing parties' brief and do some cite checking of our own.

- Protoge has a long way to go
- the unpublished cases are hard to cite to
- it can be hard to find some filings
Return on Investment
- I need a tool like Lexis or I cannot do my job, so in some cases, the ROI is really all of my work
- Finding defendants is key when bringing a lawsuit, so the public record search for Lexis is critical
