Use Cases and Deployment Scope

This tool has been really helpful to us in supply chain and sales analysis across different business domains. We can monitor the sales on region level and hence find the right market for growth . Overall our operational efficiency has been improved to large extent reduced manual map efforts and we got visibility that is location based for our business.

Pros

Decision making has been improved because we have visibility on our sales and distribution data geographically.
Delivery time and route efficiency has been improved that played a crucial role in optimizing supply chain.
Tool played great role in helping us in market analysis hence improved our sales.

Cons

UI is old and boring for new users. Takes time to get into comfortable zone.
In case of large datasets handling for multiple regions performance was quite slow
integration with other platforms needs improvement.

Likelihood to Recommend

I would rate 7/10 . It is strong tool for location based analysis. Useful for sales on region level mapping and hence we can make data driven decisions.
It is not suited for scenario that require real time analytics , updated modernized UI. Its a good solution for GIS and spatial analysis but some scope of improvement as mentioned will rate this product much better than this.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

MapInfo Pro is used right across my organisation. We utilize a number of different versions of the software to satisfy different needs including older versions, 32-bit and 64-bit versions, MapInfo Pro Advanced and Datamine. We use MapInfo to manage spatial data from Assets through to flood and bushfire analysis. We have also utilized MapInfo to create 3D videos and flythroughs of flood analysis projects.

Pros

Digitize spatial data
Convert data from other formats to spatial layers

Cons

The 3D capability in Datamine is a little outdated and hard to use
The labelling can sometimes be a little hit and miss

Likelihood to Recommend

MapInfo Pro is great for creating and editing spatial data and creating both simple and complex maps. I find it easy to locate tools now that the software has transitioned to a ribbon based toolbar. I also love that you can expand on functionality in MapInfo by adding third party tools as well.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I have used MapInfo extensively for a good few years and it's my go-to product for any significant GIS requirements I may have. In previous roles, I have used it to plan, manage and track exploration drilling campaigns and infrastructure construction. Currently, I use to plan environmental investigations for which it is fairly useful.

Other previous uses have been for conversion of GIS formats and gridding of soil assay results.

Pros

Gridding
Format conversions
Import of data is easy

Cons

Number of files for each workspace is numerous
Interface could be more user-friendly
Number of bugs, though few

Likelihood to Recommend

Very suitable for any project where geographic data needs to be analysed or presented in a digestible format.

There is more easy to use software for 3D and terrain work. For drilling data the plug in is limited and slightly clumsy in its execution although it is possible to draw the trace, snap to terrain and colour depending on geology, assay results, etc.
