We are using the McAfee Datacenter security suite to manage security vulnerabilities and combine them with McAfee’s monitoring and virtual patching solutions to provide comprehensive database security. The scope is really high due to the increase in cyber attacks with increasing data volume.

The suite is fabulous and we have been using it past 3 years for database activity monitoring, virtual patching on a real-time basis, and preventing intrusions. The reporting feature can be used intensively.

  • The agent works well with different platforms.
  • The reporting feature is good.
  • All database activities can be tracked if configured properly.
  • Support is a major issue. You need Mcafee premium service for the expected expertise.
  • Deployment on Sun Solaris.
  • Vulnerability Manager should accept customizations.

The suite works well to monitor the day to day unattended activities from support personnel, but in case I need to micro-manage, there are no inbuilt rules and I need to customize the same.

  • We think the current tool is good and has been providing us a good ROI.
Alternatives Considered
The Forecepoint product which we evaluated was better but this was a decision taken by the entire group.
