What is NetApp E-Series?

NetApp's E-Series is Hybrid Flash Built and used for dedicated, high-bandwidth applications like data analytics, video surveillance, and disk-based backup that need simple, fast, reliable SAN storage. The E-Series consists of the E5700 series model, and E2800 series model.

The E5700 Series

Requiring just 2U of rack space, the E5700 hybrid array combines extreme IOPS, sub-100 microsecond response times, and up to 21GBps of read bandwidth and 14GBps of write bandwidth. With fully redundant I/O paths, advanced data protection features, and extensive diagnostic capabilities, the E5700 storage systems enable you to achieve greater than 99.9999% availability and provide data integrity and security.

Designed specifically for performance-intensive workloads environments, including big data analytics, the E5700 delivers more than 1 million sustained IOPS and response times in microseconds. Bandwidth-oriented workloads, such as video surveillance and technical computing, also benefit from the ability of the E5700 to provide up to 21GBps of throughput. The E5700 is also the first hybrid 2U array to support multiple highspeed host interfaces, including 32Gb Fibre Channel (FC), 25Gb iSCSI, 100Gb InfiniBand, 12Gb SAS, 100Gb NVMe over InfiniBand, and 100Gb NVMe over RoCE.

The E2800 Series

The NetApp E2800 is a hybrid flash storage system with a lower acquisition cost and cost of ownership, used to streamline IT infrastructure and drive down costs. Pay-as-you-grow flexibility makes the E2800 a solution for companies of all sizes that are facing rapid, unpredictable growth. The E2800 storage system optimizes price and performance to support any workload. Higher performance with solid-state drives (SSDs) enables the E2800 to maximize storage density, requiring fewer disks to meet performance objectives. The E2800 delivers over 300K sustained IOPS and supports a broad range of high-speed host interfaces, including 32Gb Fibre Channel (FC), 25Gb iSCSI, and 12Gb SAS, to protect investment in storage networks.

The E2800 modular design and simple management tools make it easy to scale without adding management complexity. The on-box, browser-based SANtricity System Manager GUI enables streamlined deployment and the ability to start working with data in under 10 minutes.
