What is NetBackup Flex Appliances?

NetBackup Flex appliances provides cyber resilience with a zero-trust architecture designed to defend against external attacks, credential compromise, insider threats, and malware infiltration.

Flex 7.0 introduces the Flex 5270 and Flex 5372 appliance platforms, which utilize Intel Emerald Rapids processors for data backup and recovery operations.

The Flex 5372 serves as the primary enterprise platform, replacing the 5360, 5362, and Access 3360 models. The hardware provides increased throughput and includes SED-ready (Self-Encrypting Drive) disks as a standard feature. The vendor states that organizations transitioning from 5340 hardware to the 5372 can achieve reductions in total cost of ownership (TCO) and physical rack space requirements.

The Flex 5270 replaces the 5260 model for departmental and enterprise workloads on the Gen5 platform. The system supports storage expansion up to approximately 1 PB through the use of 20 TB high-density drives across six expansion shelves.

Flex software for these platforms is available in preset bundles that integrate long-term retention and cyber resilience features into standardized licensing options.
