Inexpensive and scaleable for light secure file sharing with end to end encryption
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We use NordLocker for a pretty specific use case. New hires have government/DoD documents that they need to sign and submit for various roles. We previously used DocuSign for this but DoD does not allow it anymore. We switched to a SecNAS repository in AWS GovCloud but that required a reasonable expense plus individual VPN licenses. With NorLocker we can create temporary lockers, invite users to upload their secure documents, access those and then close the locker.
Pros
- Interface is clean and modern
- Meshes will with other Nord Products (we also use NordPass and NordLayer
- Inexpensive cloud based End to End Encryption
Cons
- Some of the features are 'coming soon'
- Different learning curve for our use case (vs SecNAS or SFTP)
- Confusing Master Password/Recovery Key/Access Key Scheme.
Likelihood to Recommend
It is cheap enough and handles the very basic functionality we need from it fairly well. Since we can pay based on a per-user license and invite guests to lockers, it is far and away the cheapest option for End to End Encrypted file transfers from employees to HR/Management.
