What is OneRoster?

OneRoster, developed by 1EdTech Consortium, is a standard specification for securely sharing class rosters and related data between a student information system (SIS) and other systems, such as content applications or learning information systems (LMS). This solution enables seamless data transfer, including student and teacher information, course enrollment, and academic scores, between different educational tools and platforms. OneRoster is designed for use in schools and districts of all sizes, ranging from small K-12 institutions to large educational organizations. It is utilized by teachers, technical administrators, school districts, educational publishers, and EdTech companies.

Association and transmission of learning resources for course and course sections (classes): OneRoster facilitates the association and transmission of learning resources for courses and course sections between systems, ensuring that the right resources are available to students and teachers within their respective classes.

Certification separately for Resources and Results: OneRoster provides separate certification processes for Resources and Results, ensuring that the transfer of both learning resources and academic results between systems meets the required standards.

Sort, filter, and field selection support: OneRoster offers support for sorting, filtering, and selecting specific fields during data transfer, allowing for efficient data management and customization based on the specific needs of the systems involved.
