Oracle EPM does the job for consolidation, planning, and analytical reporting to gain insights into your business

Rating: 10 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

EPM is used across our finance organization to solve our consolidation, planning, budgeting, and forecasting problems. Users input data on a monthly basis and the EPM system is utilized for reporting numbers to the corporate finance team. Prior to this, we had a legacy system and it had challenges with data input and reporting. EPM has solved many of our data integration issues and all our users love the tool.

Pros

  • Consolidation
  • Planning and budgeting
  • Data management
  • Reporting
  • Smartview

Cons

  • Adoption of API with other products such as reporting into Tableau, Qlik, and Power BI
  • Data integration with Salesforce platform

Likelihood to Recommend

Oracle has done an amazing job in the last 5 years to bring its on-premise Hyperion suite of products into Oracle EPM. The tool was redesigned and the user interface has improved a lot. Data integration has come a long way and loading data from other ERP sources helps users with reconciliation and reporting. There is tight integration between the modules as well.

We are using Oracle Cloud EPM for consolidation, planning, budgeting, and forecast processes. We also use the financial reporting modules for reports.

Pros

  • Setup and configuration are not that complex
  • User interface is easy to navigate
  • Reporting and SmartView ad-hoc reports provide self-serve options for users

Cons

  • Can be combined into a single platform/application
  • Integration for metadata and hierarchy management can be streamlined

Likelihood to Recommend

Overall a great cloud product for someone that is coming out of on-premises world and into cloud. Hardware maintenance, disaster recovery, and business continuity planning go away with cloud.

Oracle Cloud EPM - Next Big Thing

Rating: 7 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Oracle Cloud EPM enables my organization to consolidate all the revenue and expenses to create an organization level view. This enables us to discover hidden costs or revenues and help us forecast the costs and revenues separately and track the progress against the same adjusting the forecasts in real time.

Pros

  • Downtime is really low
  • Latency issues are rare as the instances are available in the nearby regions
  • Reports are more useful and can be tailor made by everyone as per their use case

Cons

  • Initial onboarding is a bit rocky and the performance is not up to the mark
  • Unintuitive navigation
  • At times data retrieval works at a snail's pace

Likelihood to Recommend

I believe it can be used by any company with an aim to have a look at it's business using a magnifying glass. It can help to understand why something happened , what will happen and what should be done as well. So any organization capturing a lot of data would be more beneficial using Oracle Cloud EPM.

Oracle EPM Cloud is like a crystal ball for your organization

Rating: 8 out of 10

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Oracle Cloud EPM is being used by almost every function of our organization right from Strategy, Planning, HR, and Finance. We are using it to feed data from different sources into one single system and make sense out of that data using Data Analytics and ML techniques and then to present these findings on a regular basis to top management in order to equip them to plan and forecast accurately.

Pros

  • Interactive and custom reports can be generated easily
  • UI is intuitive and even people who are not that tech-savvy are able to get used to it without any other support
  • Consummate tool. One rarely needs any other external application or plugin

Cons

  • Performance not up to the mark out of the box
  • Support is not adequate
  • Relatively expensive
  • Complicated forms and difficult to navigate UI

Likelihood to Recommend

For companies who are looking to be always using cutting-edge technology, Oracle Cloud EPM is an ideal solution as with legacy EPM solutions, system updates are not that frequent and happen sporadically. At the same time, with cloud deployment, one is ensured to be always able to use the latest software.

Oracle Cloud EPM--the future of EPM

Rating: 7 out of 10
Incentivized

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Oracle Cloud EPM is primarily used for collecting, collating, and organizing companywide financial data and converting it into insights and meaningful information. It is also an integral part of our overall company planning as well as individual vertical planning. Planning here refers not only to financial planning but HR and individual project planning as well.

Pros

  • More relevant insights are delivered in no time, as all of the data is collated at a single place and then the built-in analytics tools help generate meaningful and actionable insights using machine learning
  • Financial reconciliation and reporting becomes easy, too, at different reporting standards like IGAAP and IFRS
  • Reports can be customized using smart view, and once the report is created, it keeps on auto-refreshing.

Cons

  • Customer support is not up to the mark; we almost always need to go up the escalation matrix in order to get the desired support in due time
  • Data extraction is slow, especially at the scale of my organization
  • Archaic user interface
  • It's expensive

Likelihood to Recommend

Oracle Cloud EPM is more suited for the organizations where there are either no or only a few third-party applications, as integration with other applications is a nightmare and seems to be full of troubles. One simply can't bank on these integrations to deliver high performance; they seem to fail very often.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

My customers used it primarily for the FP&A Activities. It is built on the renowned Hyperion Planning engine. Automation and Integration capabilities are improved a lot compared to 2015.

Pros

  • Smartview Integration
  • Smart Push
  • Valid Intersections
  • Data Management
  • Navigation Flows
  • Groovy Rules

Cons

  • Pre built Financials Module can be much simpler
  • Workforce Module - HRMS integration can be much better
  • Hybrid Integration - there is long way to go

Likelihood to Recommend

It is unchallenged in Custom Financial Planning model development when using PBCS. But, not so great and easy if we use EPBCS

If you don't have an on-premises license and if you are just starting out with budget planning, this product is well suited. But if you have any license, it will burden your budget. It's ideal for multi-participant budgeting and an economical solution for OpEx, CapEx, and revenue budgeting.
