Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Right now they are being used for two primary purposes - a large storage server for off site backups, and another for hosting a DR mirror of a database. The OVH Dedicated Server offering is ideal for these purposes, and if you're capable of configuring them yourself, then these form an incredibly quick and cost effective option for high storage and compute/memory workloads.

Pros

  • Initial launch and deploy of OS is simple and quick
  • Adding IPv4 addresses is easy and well documented and enables more complex multi-VM setups
  • Great range of pre-defined OS images - more or less everything you could need.

Cons

  • I find the 120s deployment promise to be optimistic - not because of the actual deployment, but because ironically the billing verification process seems to take longer than the actual provisioning.
  • Console can be a little cumbersome to navigate

  • Positive given the cost effectiveness of servers

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use OVH Dedicated Servers to host our websites and/or commerce platform and manage our private network. We've recently engaged their Managed Bare Metal solution to automate and manage our infrastructure on a 24/7 basis while still having full control. The OVH Software-defined storage has been crucial in optimizing and modernizing our cloud storage to a more ideal way.

Pros

  • Automatically archives and backs up storage.
  • It is optimized for large and critical loads.
  • Consistent top uptime.

Cons

  • Security options are pretty basic, we must use SOAR software alongside to secure the servers.

Return on Investment

  • Consistent 99 percent uptime.
  • Quite affordable, with plans costing barely 100 dollars per month.
