PerfDog

PerfDog, developed by Tencent WeTest, is a cross-platform performance testing and analysis tool for QA engineers, developers, and performance testers working on mobile, PC, and console applications.

PerfDog provides real-time monitoring of over 200 performance metrics — including FPS, CPU, GPU utilization, memory, battery, thermal, network, and proprietary indicators: Jank (frame rendering delay), Stutter (jank time proportion), Smooth Index (frame stability), FPower (per-frame energy consumption), BigJank (severe stutter exceeding 125 ms), and 1% Low (industry-standard smoothness benchmark) — across Android, iOS, Windows, macOS, PlayStation, Xbox, Nintendo Switch, and VR platforms. The tool requires no ROOT, jailbreak, or SDK integration, operating with below 1% impact on device CPU.

PerfDog offers full GPU counter support for Qualcomm, Mali, PowerVR, and iOS GPUs, covering utilization, pixel throughput, overdraw, and bus bandwidth. Engine Mode provides CPU scheduling analysis, thread status inspection, and rendering screenshot analysis for Unity and Unreal Engine. Systrace Mode enables Android system-level event tracing with timeline heat maps and thread analysis. Network testing allows teams to simulate weak network conditions — latency, packet loss, jitter, and bandwidth — using regional templates or custom parameters without device modifications. Custom Data Extension synchronizes application-specific metrics (DrawCall, Triangle, texture memory, scene labels) in real time via a socket API.

PerfDogService provides gRPC-based APIs for automated performance data collection, supporting Python, C#, C++, Java, PHP, and Go. It enables multi-device parallel testing, CI/CD pipeline integration via Jenkins, GitLab CI, and GitHub Actions, and remote cloud testing across Windows, macOS, and Linux. A cloud-based dashboard stores all test data for visualization, historical comparison, annotation, and team collaboration.

WeTest states the solution has been used in over 200,000 applications tests, with 20 million+ test sessions conducted globally, and that it has been adopted by 140+ game companies.
