Perplexity Computer

Perplexity Computer is a general-purpose autonomous AI agent included with eligible subscriptions to Perplexity’s main search and productivity platform. It accepts tasks in natural language, divides work among specialized subagents, and operates across websites, connected applications, files, and development tools. Tasks can continue in the cloud without the user keeping a browser or computer open.

Computer supports multi-step research, browser automation, data collection and analysis, report and presentation creation, writing and editing, coding, and website or application development. Users can also schedule recurring tasks for monitoring and other ongoing processes. Connectors provide controlled access to applications such as Gmail, Slack, Notion, and Calendar, while Skills supply reusable instructions for particular workflows. Users can review progress and provide additional direction while work is underway.

Computer is not currently sold as a separate subscription. Individual access is available through Perplexity Pro, currently priced at $20 per month or $200 annually, and Perplexity Max, priced at $200 per month or $2,000 annually. Education Pro also includes access. Organizational access is available through Enterprise Pro and Enterprise Max, which are priced per seat. Computer can be used through Perplexity’s desktop and mobile interfaces and through supported Slack and Microsoft 365 experiences.

Computer usage is metered through credits. Consumer Pro currently starts with a one-time introductory credit allocation but no recurring monthly Computer credits, while consumer Max starts with 10,000 credits per month. Enterprise Pro starts with 500 monthly credits per seat, and Enterprise Max starts with 15,000. Introductory bonus amounts, monthly allocations, and regional availability can vary.

Additional credits can be purchased manually or through an optional automatic refill. Perplexity currently prices 100 credits at $1, although the number consumed by a task depends on its complexity and use of text, image, audio, video, browsing, or coding tools. Automatic refill is disabled by default; users who enable it select both the refill amount and a monthly spending limit. If the available balance is exhausted, active Computer tasks pause and new credit-consuming tasks are blocked until credits are purchased or the monthly allocation resets. Unused monthly credits do not roll over, while purchased credits remain available until used but expire after one year without Computer activity. Ordinary Perplexity Ask searches do not consume Computer credits.
