Proxmox is a powerful virtualization platform
Use Cases and Deployment Scope
We are using Proxmox to virtualize machines that we use for development and for services offered for our clients. We cut costs and reduce deployment time by using virtual machines for ecommerce development.
Pros
- Easy to create and manage virtual machines
- Good network configuration flexbility
- Can be customized
Cons
- Some errors are hard do debug
- Lack of GUI for certain configurations
- Backup and restore are not as intuitive as they could be
Likelihood to Recommend
I believe Proxmox can be very useful for replacing jobs usually done by real machines, like deploying web servers, network services, etc. Its also an invaluable tool for companies offering a SaaS, as it permits to easily run different virtual machines with specific network configurations. I don't believe, however, that its well suited to very high demand applications, were a more easily scalable solution (like a cloud service) would work better.
