Who Buys & Uses Sage Intacct Planning

Intacct Planning for Small Nonprofits.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We use Intacct Planning for both our annual budgeting process and our mid-fiscal-year budgeting. While I'm sure we can pull more information from Intacct Planning, it is first and foremost our primary budgeting software, replacing our older use of Google Sheets. It is used by both our finance team and our budget managers, who have little financial training.

Pros

  • Incredibly detailed.
  • Able to implement changes mid-year as needed.
  • Customizable for internal use.

Cons

  • Some built-in help options can be challenging for non-finance folks to understand.
  • For our organization, the learning curve was a little steeper than expected, but it's much smoother in round two.
  • If you're importing instead of using the software to enter information, you may get some (or several) errors.

Return on Investment

  • It's really helped bring our organization into the 21st century, away from manual data manipulations.
  • Getting outside finance folks comfortable and familiar with the software has been a larger hurdle than expected.
  • I think the cost would be more worthwhile the larger your organization is —it may be hard to justify for a group of fewer than 50 people.

Benefits with Sage Intacct Planning

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

One of the ways we utilize these services is through our reports and how we use them in comparing and organizing our financial and billing information. The ease of use and customization helps keep things easily understandable not only with those on our end of the billing and AP sectors but also when they are utilized within the scope of expressing out standing payments and collections back up.

Pros

  • Sage Intacct Planning helps with enabling me to import a variety of information to combine and compare data within my responsibilities.
  • The services helps give us a snapshot using previous years data compared against current year to assist in predicting the upcoming financial issues and accomplishments.

Cons

  • It would be immensely helpful if Intacct had options to compose and print outstanding invoices both for a single invoice, or the entire accounts outstanding totals with back up information.

Return on Investment

  • This had has positive results by helping to keep track of financial moves and records, as well as making sure the documentation used from the program is digestible by those not working in the industry.
