SAP Business Data Cloud

Our organisation uses SAP Business Data Cloud as a modern data warehousing and analytics platform. We were using the BW 7.5 on Oracle database. As SAP decommissioned the BWA feature in BW 7.5, we were facing performance issues. Moving to BW on Hana or BW4Hana looks short term solutions at that point. To overcome that, we were looking for the next options. Here, SAP Business Data Cloud suits better for our needs. The SAP tool for the SAP data would be a better and more reliable solution. SAP Business Data Cloud helps to transform the raw data to a semantically rich dataproduct. We are using replication flows for some premium outbound use cases as well. With this SAP Business Data Cloud suite, we were doing seamless planning for project cost. This reduces a lot of the data transfer process. Using the analytical model, we built multiple statistical dashboards. In addition to that we could able to achieve the realtime data replications which increases the accuracy and reduce the lag.

SAP Business Data Cloud is suited mainly for SAP data integration. We could able to easily consolidate the data from S4 and service cloud V2 system. SAP Business Data Cloud enables realtime data replications. We could able to leverage the AI core features. As my previous data warehousing skill is from SAP BW, I am missing some basic features comparing to BW. Master data manual maintenance, Time dependant masterdata, language independent text is also not straightforward.

SAP Business Data Cloud is used in the organization to organize useful data at one single place. Product control Teams use the arranged data for Profit and Loss reporting everyday using SAP SAC as analytics reporting tool. SAP Business Data Cloud is very strong tool which is helping the organization to arrange meaningful and important data at once single platform. This data can be used in Data bricks for any AI needs and in SAC for analytical reporting.

Ease of data modelling and SAC dashboards make it easier for super users to present their data. We are in the process of replacing multiple SAP Business Warehouse platforms with a wide portfolio of enterprise business intelligence solutions and integrations with a modernized alternative in SAP BDC. Initially we started with datasphere as a stand alone product but have decided to bring in BDC in the scope for the project as well. The business case is to have a more modern and flexible data warehouse that is not nearing end of life like BW.

Much more rapid development than BW, at least in the ideation phase.

Too much functionality still not available in transformation flows but only in data flows despite the latter already marked as being decomissioned.

SAP Business Data is not well positioned in the marketplace and the useage and consumption does not resonate with customers. SAP is moving in the right direction but the databricks and AI portion needs to be further developed. The product is in its infancy compared to Snowflake and other competitors.

We are currently only exploring BDC at the moment but it is a very groundbreaking technology that will help our business to achieve its goals in an amazing way

Doing a POC for People Intelligence and Databricks Delta Share usecases

Well suited for SAP Data and not that efficient for NON SAP Data

Business users want analytics and quickly. However, SAP relationships are difficult. The business users want a blend of pre-built solutions that they can extend.

SAP Business Data Cloud is best suited for customers with S/4HANA or other SAP systems as a datasource. For other systems, better integration would simply data extraction.
