SAP Integrated Product Development

SAP Integrated Product Development is our new way to develop products starting from from product design up to the operation and the consumption. It has helped us save time and costs in the whole process and has helped is get the best results in a fully digitalized process of product development.

What I like best about SAP Integrated Product Development is that it feels like an ecosystem where all the products can grow and develop from the beginning to the end of their lifecycle. All that one will ever need for the entire product lifecycle is offered in a single platform. The real-time collaboration is also of great value! The platform facilitates all needed information (requirements, designs, documentation, change requests etc) and everyone can find anything they need very fast.

SAP Integrated Product Development is being used by organization by both Sales and operations team. SAP Integrated Product Development tool is helping us in managing BOM & EBOM to smoothly manage engineering to manufacturing flow. SAP Integrated Product Development helping us in supplier collaboration and reducing time to market while introducing a new product.

Our organization recently started using SAP Integrated Product Development tool - it is good for realizing Engineering to GO To MARKET strategy for an organization with constantly introducing new product lines but not for s medium term organization with limited product lines.

it helps us to manage inventory and purchage of material in our pharmaceutical organization, also it helps us to manage quality aspects programme and samples management.

1- SAP integrated programme is largely useful tool in every aspects , specially in inventory management.

2- There is something need to work in SAP that is in Sample management and inprocess request creation.

As SAP market about IPD, this is used for digitalization of design and approval of products into production line. As a techno-functional, i see this more useful in integrations, data simplification such as Material, Bill of material Class/Characteristics. It has also linearized the document viewing and updating for Materials. The tedious work to navigate to more specific directories are reduced.

I have used IPD for Material collaboration, where the design and specifications were maintained as per the country need. When there is a change based on local country compliance rules, it makes easy to refer and adjust the material specifications as per the new compliance defined. Handling this for multiple materials in a go makes a difference in this tool. But drawback is that navigation of the EDP interface, where it takes more time to adjust and needs more training for new users. Like making them understand the business need and change needed takes time.

I use SAP Integrated Product Development to centralize product data and collaborate with our data engineering and account managers. I use it to extract structured data for my reports and dashboards. I also use it to find outliers and gaps in documentation. The scope of this tool is to integrate it with a BI tool to improve decision-making and forecasting.

SAP Integrated product development is great when multiple teams are working and require centralized data and version control, as multiple people could be working on the same project. However, it can be less useful when teams are smaller and have simpler workflows, since they may find it difficult to learn quickly.

The IPD is new implementation done, what i can see as business resolution mainly in reducing the manual data entry and errors caused due to it during product/material creation. Also, requirements management for product/materials would be digitalized (Cloud based solution) more through the new updated tool, which also integrated to PLM, BTP for technical/process solutions.

Pros: Global collaboration and cloud based solutions in once place. As this suits the environment we are in with more presence in different countries.

Cons: Its difficult in for integrations to third party tools and also not recommended when implemented smaller levels (like single country or product line based)

For a professional in the SAP ecosystem, it is helpful to view SAP IPD not just as a tool, but as a BTP-based orchestration layer that bridges the gap between engineering (PLM) and the core digital core (S/4HANA).

We use SAP Integrated Product Development IPD to manage the end-to-end product life cycle from the starting stage to the end, all in one single platform. Is to solve various issues like - smooth communication, quick approvals, clear visibility, and centralized reports for all cross teams.

It really works for complex product launches that require multiple approvals. It makes this approval process smooth and reduces TAT. Also, the audit becomes smoother because all approvals and data are stored in one place. It is less useful for smaller teams or for simple products, as the setup will take a lot more time for them.

We use SAP Integrated Product Development mainly to streamline how we handle expense reporting across teams. Some problems it helps solve are spend visibility and slow approvals. Our scope includes expense requests, reporting, approvals, and generating data to tie back into our core finance systems.

Requesting preapproval for something is very easy and has helped speed processes up. Expenses can be added directly to the request too which is helpful. Receipts can be scanned and input via app. All of those together features working together helped me get my reports in without taking too much time.

We use SAP Integrated Product Development for our purchased products and we had major problems with storing product specifications from suppliers. We use collaboration room for interacting with suppliers.

Our supplier collaboration works very fine and we have easy access for our specifications
