Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We charge our merchants quarterly/yearly base with help of SAP Subscription Billing. It's very easy to moderate customer billing based on their usage and charge them accordingly. It also generates bill for the customers allowing them to pay directly. They can also cancel or renew their subscription cycle easily.

  • Generates bills for the merchants
  • Allows us to charge them based on their usage
  • Create and allow modifying merchant billings

Cons

  • Configuration is very hard and complex. Not beginner friendly
  • Can only be used with other SAP tools
  • Reporting and UI could be better

  • Had to hire extra tech savvy people with knowledge of SAP tools because of its complex configuration
  • Reporting takes time and not real-time

We needed a dedicated billing engine and financial stack versus something more CRM-oriented.

  • This design reduces deployment time and connection between services.
  • It is an end-to-end billing software that does more than just process transactions; from the initial product setup to final billing and revenue tracking.

Cons

  • The platform manages complex billing; however, it necessitates extensive technical setup and requires skillsets that are hard to find.
  • It feels like building a high end sound system without instructions. This means you will miss on deeper customization possibilities of an on-premise SAP BRIM installation, which is the price for getting faster cloud updates.
  • Another observational realization was if we have late arriving data or modified bills that are already completed, our real-time processing engine doesn't adapt well.
