What is Shift?
Shift is a customizable web browser and digital workspace designed for professionals, freelancers, and entrepreneurs who manage multiple accounts and complex workflows. The software allows users to modify their layout and navigation structures through a drag-and-drop interface, providing six starter templates or the option to build a workspace from a blank configuration.
A primary feature of the platform is Spaces, which enables the separation of browsing environments for distinct roles, such as work, personal use, or specific client projects. Each Space maintains its own independent set of Apps, Bookmarks, and Extensions, assisting users with context segregation. The browser also incorporates Shift AI, an integrated assistant intended to facilitate task completion within the user's defined environment.
Shift provides connectivity to over 1,500 web applications, including Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, HubSpot, Zoom, and Grammarly. The system architecture allows users to remain logged into multiple instances of the same application simultaneously, consolidating communication channels and productivity tools into a single managed interface.
Established in 2016 and headquartered in Victoria, British Columbia, Shift is a Certified B Corp within the Redbrick portfolio. Published documentation indicates that the platform is utilized by professionals seeking to mitigate challenges associated with high-volume tab management and frequent context switching.
