Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Sophos Mobile, we started using it in our organization once we received several challenges to manage the Mobile endpoints. As we have always focused on the Desktop or Laptop Endpoints, the Mobile endpoints have become a crucial part of the managed environment. We have some in-house applications for the mobile and handheld devices, as well as some managed apps for the emails and attendance systems. We have implemented Sophos Mobile in our organization to manage all Mobile Endpoints in a single dashboard.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

I use the Sophos Mobile solution as a tool to protect corporate smartphones and tablets used by our employees. I use it to manage devices and protect them from cyber threats and scams like viruses, spam, phishing, ransomware, and also data theft. We have a single management platform that integrates all of our Apple and Android devices and keeps them secure, up-to-date, and in control at all times. With Sophos Mobile, we were able to create rules and only allow the use of authorized applications to increase the focus and productivity of our company's employees.

Pros

  • Easy deployment.
  • We are on next generation type of tools to be able to protect corporate data.
  • Allows the management IT group to be able to control the probable theft of information.

Cons

  • The platform was developed many years ago, a fresher look (even for the cloud-based console) would be appreciated.
  • The ability to control mail platforms other than MS Exchange.
  • The ability to control more features on iOS (knowing how the iOS Platform is at the moment).

  • We invest and make the ROI very quickly seen, when management on any company sees what they were missing on possible data breaches.
  • As a positive impact, it allows end users to quickly catch the true meaning for "Corporate Data".
  • A negative impact, sometimes is that the end user feels as it's being followed all around, which depending on the profile, it's a must on a device with corporate data access and/or storage.
