Easy to get started with for recording podcast episodes

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Within my organization, we use StreamYard for several purposes. Colleagues first began using the platform to record video case studies with customers who use our software solutions. I'm now using it to record episodes of a video podcast we've begun producing this year. I share a link via email with guests, and then we "meet" in the online recording studio (I have a dedicated one set up solely for the podcast).

Pros

  • As someone with no video production experience, I appreciate that StreamYard was easy to get started with.
  • The customizable branding features are useful.
  • It's reassuring to know that recordings are saved locally on each partcipant's device, in case the quality of internet connections wavers occasionally.

Cons

  • It's been a number of months since I tried using the feature, but when I tried using StreamYard's AI clips feature, I didn't love the results. I personally got better suggestions by uploading the recording I made in StreamYard to a more specialized platform. Using the two products in tandem has been a good solution. That said, it's very possible StreamYard's AI features have advanced in the interim.
  • There are a few features that aren't compatible with certain browsers. I believe that's due to limitations of those specific browsers (and not the fault of StreamYard), but it's good to be aware of so you can advise guests in advance, just in case.
  • I can't recall exactly what the issues were now with the transcripts StreamYard produced when I tried downloading the ones they created this spring, but I wound up deciding to use the more AI-focused platform I mentioned above for my transcripts.

Return on Investment

  • It has allowed a video novice to get up to speed in a non-painful way! That was a huge help in making a role I didn't have previous experience with easier to get going with. I referred to several of their FAQs and appreciated all the documentation.
  • Recording the first 4 episodes was something I was able to do quickly.
  • Its simplicity from the guest's point of view gives me confidence that even non-technical folks are unlikely to face problems getting started. That helps to expand the pool of guests I feel comfortable inviting to participate.

Pros

  • Easy access to stream to multiple locations at the same time
  • Simple and intuitive user interface.
  • Self-explanatory. Small learning curve to be able to master it.

Cons

  • One big downside is that you can't download separate high quality video and audio files for each person in the stream.
  • The simplicity takes away from the "customization" that you could potentially have in other platforms.
  • A backroom where you could communicate with other people in the stream, without streaming it while live, would be very useful.

Return on Investment

  • Since we started the LIVE podcast on StreamYard we have added over $200k in top-line revenue. Keep in mind there are processes around this and StreamYard is just a piece of the puzzle. An important piece that allows us to be consistent.
  • It has helped us be consistent for over 200 episodes of the podcast.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Hi, I'm using StreamYard to broadcast my live interview session over my company's LinkedIn, YouTube, and Facebook social channels. Align events, create them for each account, manage the live session on air, and record everything is usually a pain. With StreamYard, I've solved all of them with one tool. I can program everything in advance and quickly go live.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Our company actively uses StreamYard for live streaming special events, info sessions, and panel discussions. We use also StreamYard to record interviews and info sessions for our external audience. StreamYard helps us to add visuals, slides, and videos to our live streams, which make our social media appearance more professional and engaging.

Pros

  • It has an easy and comfortable interface for participants and admins.
  • It provides the opportunity to add videos, banners, and slides to your session.
  • It provides the opportunity to show live comments and answer to them right from StreamYard.

Cons

  • I would like to be able to change default layout via admin in some instances because for example, it’s a cropped layout for 2+ speakers by default.
  • I would like the opportunity to copy comments from the comments section (even if we need to paste it to private chat).
  • I would like the opportunity to share the link to download video with guest speakers.

Return on Investment

  • It has increased the reach rate and the number of followers on social media pages, for example, on our Youtube page, the number of followers increased by 2 times the original amount.
  • It has reduced the amount of time our communications team spends on editing videos.
  • More team members are able to use StreamYard by themselves, which has allowed us to reduce the time our communications team spends on managing live sessions before.
