Stripe Identity is used to programmatically confirm the identity of global users, to prevent attacks from fraudsters while minimizing friction for legitimate customers. Stripe Identity is built on top of technology that Stripe uses to verify millions of global users. It's a part of the company's own global Know Your Customer (KYC) process, and risk operations.
