What is TestBot?

TestBot: Agent-Based Test Automation for Embedded, IoT, and Automotive Systems

TestBot is an agent-based test automation platform built for engineering teams validating hardware-connected products, including automotive ECUs, industrial controllers, and IoT devices. Unlike general-purpose web or mobile test automation tools, TestBot is purpose-built for the communication protocols and physical hardware layers found in embedded systems.

Protocol Coverage

TestBot automates testing across CAN, CAN FD, LIN, UDS, DoIP, J1939, SOME/IP, XCP, Modbus, PROFIBUS, PROFINET, EtherNet/IP, BACnet, BLE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi. Each protocol is handled by a dedicated agent, allowing teams to activate only the protocols relevant to their devices rather than adopting an all-or-nothing platform.

Hardware Validation

TestBot pairs its protocol agents with physical test jigs, including a CAN-to-USB adapter, an I/O module, a decade resistance box, a SCARA robot arm, and an AI vision camera module. This combination enables hardware-in-the-loop style validation of both the communication layer and the physical/mechanical layer of a device under test.

Test Authoring

Test cases can be authored three ways: graphically with no code, in Python, or in Java. Tests are organized in a Test Set to Test Item to Test Method to Test Data structure that supports both short smoke tests and long-duration regression suites. In one documented use case, TestBot executed more than 4,000 CAN test cases in a single overnight regression run for automotive ECU validation.

CI/CD Integration

TestBot integrates into CI/CD pipelines, enabling continuous automated testing as part of the build process rather than relying on periodic manual test cycles.

Industry Applications

TestBot is used across automotive (ECU diagnostics, instrument cluster validation, DoIP testing for EV Ethernet ECUs), industrial automation (PLC and protocol-level testing), medical devices (compliance-oriented validation), defense and aerospace, and consumer electronics/IoT (OTA update validation, Wi-Fi provisioning, BLE connectivity testing). It also supports web application, mobile application, and Windows desktop UI test automation.

Additional Capabilities

TestBot includes end-of-line production testing for manufacturing environments, stress testing to evaluate device limits, firmware regression testing to detect version drift across releases, and a built-in ROI calculator that helps teams evaluate the cost-versus-coverage tradeoff of automating a given test suite.
