LexisNexis ThreatMetrix is a digital identity intelligence and fraud decisioning platform for evaluating online customers, accounts, and transactions in real time. It is used by fraud, risk, digital identity, and payments teams to distinguish trusted activity from suspicious behavior during account opening, login, account management, and payment workflows.

ThreatMetrix evaluates signals including device characteristics, IP address, geolocation, email address, phone number, transaction details, user interactions, and behavioral patterns. It analyzes these signals alongside identity history, activity velocity, distance anomalies, previous risk associations, bot behavior, remote-access trojan indicators, and intelligence from the LexisNexis Digital Identity Network. The resulting risk scores include reasoning that teams can use when approving, challenging, reviewing, or rejecting an interaction.

Organizations can combine built-in machine-learning models with configurable rules, customer data, and previous fraud outcomes. A no-code policy environment supports custom decision strategies, while advanced users can incorporate their own models. ThreatMetrix also provides investigation, case management, reporting, and workflow-orchestration capabilities for responding to flagged activity.

Supported use cases include new-account fraud, bot attacks, account takeover, social engineering, unauthorized profile changes, payment fraud, scams, and mule-account activity. Privacy controls include tokenization, hashing, and anonymization of identity data used in risk assessments.
