Originally, I used Topaz Gigapixel AI as my Go To software to upscale smaller images for web or print

Pros

It upscales smaller size images for use where higher resolution is needed.
It cleans up unwanted artifacts and noise
It helps remove jpeg noise

Cons

Topaz produced a newer product Photo AI which performs much of what Gigapixel performs and more.
I sense that Gigapixel has become unneeded and obsolete

Return on Investment

I do projects for clients. Most of what I buy is paid for by the client, or

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Quite often clients will supply a very low resolution photo for something that needs to be printed offset or digitally. Gigapixel does an excellent job of enlarging so that the resulting photo is usable without looking blurry or jaggy. I've even used it to enlarge bad screen shots of people's logos so that they can be better autotraced and vectorized when they have nothing else.

Pros

No effort resizing of images.
Sharpens edges as it resizes.

Cons

Currently, it doesn't support RAW images. I'd like to see that.
It can be slow on older systems. I recommend newer hardware.
