Upsun

Upsun (formerly Platform.sh) is a cloud-based Application Platforms and Platform as a Service (PaaS) solution designed for developers, DevOps engineers, and digital agencies managing application fleets ranging from single sites to multi-tenant operations. The platform abstracts underlying cloud infrastructure, allowing teams to declare application runtimes, managed databases, caching layers, and routing rules within a single repository configuration file (.upsun/config.yaml).

The vendor structures the platform into two principal product lines:

Upsun Cloud: Serves as the core deployment and runtime environment. It features Git-driven deployment workflows that automatically provision ephemeral preview environments for every code branch or Pull Request (PR). According to the vendor, the platform supports more than 12 programming runtimes and managed services across 14 cloud regions on infrastructure provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), IBM Cloud, and OVHcloud. Operations include automated scaling, zero-downtime deployments, application performance monitoring (APM), profiling, automated backups, and management via a Command Line Interface (CLI), web console, or Application Programming Interface (API).

Upsun Dispatch: Provides a workflow execution engine for Artificial Intelligence (AI) agent workflows and developer automation. According to the vendor, Dispatch executes agent tasks in isolated sandboxes with customizable human-in-the-loop approval gates and logs an immutable audit trail capturing the trigger, code change, approver, and cost for every run. The vendor states that Large Language Model (LLM) API costs are passed through directly from AI providers without platform markups.

The vendor states that its cloud infrastructure is independently audited and compliant with System and Organization Controls (SOC 2 Type 2), Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI DSS Level 1), International Organization for Standardization (ISO/IEC 27001), and Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) readiness.
