Use Cases and Deployment Scope

WinZip is the standard in my book for condensing and uncompressing large files. We use WinZip almos daily to compress large files before sending to clients and colleagues. Because WinZip is an industray standard, most all clients are familiar with the software and already have it installed.

Pros

  • Compresses files quickly and efficiently
  • Handles almost all types of files genres.
  • Transmits easily

  • Too many choices in ancillary programs of WinZip

  • WinZip has enables us to communicate more quickly with clients.

Use Cases and Deployment Scope

We consistently use WinZip SAFE as our method of burning secure CD/DVD media for clients as well as internal use between our systems. The software is easy to manage and offers a great application for managing the built-in options. It is a very lightweight program that does not take up a lot of resources, which is great for users who often have multiple programs and windows up for daily use.

  • Allows for the creation of multiple copies
  • Loads quickly after inserting a CD/DVD

Cons

  • The burning process sometimes hangs when creating multiple copies
  • The admin program is needed to turn off auto disk closing
  • There is no "update" built into the software

  • We can scope individual users and control our media usage
  • This helped with our CMMC audit for encrypted data in transit

I use WinZip To zip and unzip contents. The newer winzip version is difficult to use. New features are added but the product is no longer user friendly as it used to be (v24 and below)
