We tried ActiveMeetings as an alternative to Zoom as the pandemic hit to figure out what use cases can it solve for us. We were fairly impressed with the agenda-driven meetings it was possible to host via ActiveMeetings. It also has other useful features like in-app messaging, offline document access, and seamless multi-platform support for both desktop and mobile.
  • Setting agenda for the meets
  • Getting real-time inputs from meeting participants
  • Seamless collaboration during meets
  • The UI interface could be much cleaner
  • The cost of the software is high considering the value many free softwares provide
  • Not everyone has ActiveMeetings so cross-organization collaboration has some friction
ActiveMeetings works well when you want to conduct pre-scheduled meets with a clear agenda and want to get inputs from stakeholders to close things quickly. It's not really so useful for general chit-chat or catchups with teammates as the extra features aren't useful in the scenario. It also has some friction when doing cross-org collaboration.
  • Agenda setting
  • Getting inputs from participants in real time
  • Easy collaboration between participants
  • Meetings have become much more meeting with ActiveMeetings prompting for an agenda every time you set a meet
  • You can club all relevant documents for the meet in one single doc which is really useful to avoid clutter and confusion
  • This is still a hindrance when collaborating with people from a different organisation
ActiveMeetings offers much more power in terms of setting the course for the meeting, getting real-time inputs from stakeholders, and closing things on the go compared to Zoom or Google Meet. However the interface of ActiveMeetings isn't as clean as intuitive as it is with Zoom, and especially with Google Meet.
