Overall Satisfaction with Altium 365

I use Altium 365 for PCB design. It makes it easy to design and the software is intuitive. We use it from final PCB design to the initial testing boards. The UI is clean and well put together.

Pros

  • It has a great library
  • The footprint manager is easy to use
  • Capturing a schematic is simple

Cons

  • It would be nice if it could automatically upload the specific components selected
  • The auto routing of wire traces could be more effective
  • The 3d interaction could be easier to control
  • It has been great to work with the industry standard of best software
  • It is a great skill to be able to say I have learned
  • It is expensive, but the results are worth it
I gave it this rating of a nine out of ten because it is very useable but in some ways it can be slow or complicated. There are a lot of shortcuts that are useful, but learning them and remembering all of them can sometimes be difficult. Overall it is very good though.

I think that Altium 365 is a very good way to start designing and implementing ideas for a PCB. It is nice that you can select specific manufacturered parts to add to the schematic which usually autopopulate on the PCB template. It is not going to be great for specific 3d design.
