Overall Satisfaction with Altium Designer
As an embedded design engineer, I follow the full cycle from design and simulation to layout, signal integrity, and producing data packs with the Draftsman tool. This allows end-to-end control of the design without handing it off to other departments. The 365 tools allow a great way of working with other teams and interfering with manufacturing around the world without the need for them to have the software installed. The package and features as a whole allow me, as a design engineer, to keep full track of the project and eliminate the need for a separate version control system.
- Visualization of the board layout.
- Cross probing.
- Constraints management.
- Sharing with others outside the business.
- Pin assignments import/export to software tools. Output to VHDL/Verilog, for example, or CSV for micro-controllers.
- I'm also a hobbies - so a low cost option of the tool that is sub £500.
- Improved design reliability - less respins.
- Larger collaboration with others - Reduced time to market
An engineer can focus on the whole project from end to end while allowing more extensive collaboration with others for feedback.
Used to pass data to fabricators of PCB, internal admin teams, and external manufacturing.
