Overall Satisfaction with ApptioOne

I help implement ApptioOne for clients, as well as providing support services, new product demonstrations and administrative consultations. Typically, the primary use case is enhancing and delivering additional functionality to existing ApptioOne configurations. Customers routinely require professional services to address either labor resource gaps or simply more experienced input relative to their solution.

We use datalink to integrate and automate data ingestion into Apptio, particularly REST api queries that pull from various sources with API capabilities. We also put a lot of value in the modelling capabilities in ApptioOne, where the visual and conceptual views of cost allocation really make a difference in end users reaction to their cost foot print.

The service/delivery teams have generally been exceptional. Post-implementation support can be frustrating at times though. There is usually a long turnaround time in getting feedback, especially useful feedback as opposed to canned messages and forwarding to other groups at Apptio. While a complicated platform naturally retains a level of complexity that is difficult to support, the support team could still do a better job of proactively addressing questions and maintaining visibility on open issues.

ApptioOne is fantastic for large organizations who are just beginning to view IT as an Investment in the business and supporting the entire enterprise. ApptioOne may not make sense for smaller organizations, where IT costs aren't a big enough driver in the overall spend picture, or in companies that generally don't view IT as the focus of their cost drivers. Culture plays a big part in the perspective that an ApptioOne end user will have, where a culture that invites more transparency and subsequent scrutiny usually does well with Apptio's offerings.
