Overall Satisfaction with Okta

We use Auth0 organization-wide for authentication on web & mobile applications as well as our API. This solves our need for a single sign-on solution that accepts both social logins as well as enterprise logins.

Pros

  • Single sign on
  • Enterprise logins
  • MFA
  • Bot detection

Cons

  • Social logins are not native causing compatibility issues (complying with FB, etc.).
  • Unified login Workflow
  • Analytics & metrics on logins
  • Reduced support issues with authentication
Whenever you have a situation where you have a need for SSO (multiple applications) or would need to quickly enable features such as social login, MFA & enterprise login, Auth0 would be the best fit. If you have a single web product with a username/password login, you are most likely better off building your own.

Configuring Okta

The balance between the configurability the out of the box solution and the low-level javascript library could be improved to provide much more configuration & flow control options for the former.
