Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Catalyst Switches

We use switches in all different departments and different buildings. We connect them all fiber and all go back to our core pretty much.

Pros

  • They're pretty fast connection. They're pretty simple to config and they're pretty reliable. We haven't bought much of them because they work great unless they run out alive. But other than that they're great. They don't break. Knock on wood.

Cons

  • We use them in our main building where we have to have 10 gigabyte network. So they're able to give us 10 gig connections to them and we were able to create a path out to the internet, so that was a great improvement for that purpose. And it's fast.
  • Pretty much all positive. Everything would create a license. We have no problems with that. The duration of the switch lasts a long time, so yeah, everything's positive
  • Cisco Meraki MX
  • Cisco Meraki MR
  • Cisco AnyConnect
Just there wasn't much. Pretty much in this case, we use the Meraki Cloud to do our MX switches, the Catalyst, they're all premiers so we don't use those from the cloud, but it's just basically a simple configuration that it's been easy. A couple of clicks and everything works great.
They are pretty much great because when it comes down to configuration in the IOS, it's much simpler in Cisco than these other ones. You got to do too much configuration. You do the same thing you can do with two commands, for example on the Cisco IOS. So yeah, I recommend more the IOS in Cisco.

They work great in our data center. They work great in the IDF closets where sometimes heat they maintain pretty good and I can't see much of a weakness, but unless they're fall out from our remote sites that we have to somehow. But no, they worked fine.
