Overall Satisfaction with Cisco Meraki Dashboard

We use it for configuration and monitoring of our deployed devices.

Pros

  • It's really helped us configure our MX devices faster and also monitor our wireless networks through our Meraki APs. It's been very helpful in visualizing issues with wireless and allowing us to configure and fix them very easily.

Cons

  • More granular controls over devices. It definitely feels like, especially when you come from a CLI environment and you're working in a command line interface and then going into the dashboard, you can feel restricted sometimes because if they don't have the button you can't press it. So more buttons.
  • It's definitely allowed us to operate with a smaller team and allowed us to troubleshoot issues quicker. The Meraki dashboard with Meraki APs has helped us identify issues on our wireless network, monitor the health, and really help our remote locations out with troubleshooting and getting devices online quicker.
Closest thing would be Cisco Catalyst Center and we use that for our switch infrastructure. It's mainly configuration backup and firmware updater at this point, like keeping everything provisioned and up to date. We haven't really started pushing configs through there yet, but Catalyst Center would be the closest equipment.

Do you think Cisco Meraki Dashboard delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Cisco Meraki Dashboard's feature set?

Yes

Did Cisco Meraki Dashboard live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Cisco Meraki Dashboard go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Cisco Meraki Dashboard again?

Yes

For smaller teams that need to deploy a lot of devices and monitor a lot of clients, it takes a lot of the complexity out so you can train people faster and remediate issues quicker because you have better visibility and it's presented to you in a way where you don't have to hunt it down as much. You would only not like it if your team really was into command line interface and getting into the nitty gritty and doing everything themselves. So if your team is slow to adapt to that kind of transition, might not want to do it, but otherwise I'd recommend it to all teams.
