Overall Satisfaction with Cisco SD-WAN

A couple of branch offices plus the data center. Mixed the MPLS and Internet circuits and have active/active connections. So save some money for the cost of the Internet circuits are cheaper comparing with the MPLS circuits or some locations don't have MPLS circuits available. Plus the active/active usage has better performance than the active/standby connections.
  • Active/active connections
  • Mix the MPLS and internet circuits
  • Automatic failover
  • Should be less expensive and make it more affordable.
  • Should be integrated with more models of regular Cisco routers as a built-in feature/function, instead of using vEdge devices or very limited router models.
  • More flexible license model, such as a one-year subscription option.
  • Did not save money as we expected.
  • License model is not very flexible and the price is too high.
  • Got familiar with the SD-WAN and the deployment.
Cisco SD-WAN is well suited for small branch offices where there are no or very limited IT staffs. Especially for the locations where two MPLS circuits are not available or are too expensive. For locations that will definitely use two MPLS circuits or the price of the MPLS circuits is almost the same as the Internet circuits, deploying SD-WAN may not benefit you much.
