Conga Composer - Still the gold standard for doc gen on the salesforce platform
Overall Satisfaction with Conga Composer
As a Solutions Integrator on the Salesforce platform, I recommend Conga Composer for any and all document generation requirements. We use it internally to create and send quotes, SOWs, and Invoices.
I have used all the major document merge solutions on the Salesforce Platform and continue to come back to Conga Composer because of the flexibility and easy of use. It can be applied to nearly every work stream in the Quote to Cash process.

Pros
- Powerful query logic to pull related and dynamic datasets
- Merged output to PDF, Excel, or Word
- Perform document merges on a schedule or triggered based
- Email capability to automatically send documents and notices to the appropriate contacts
- Performance - Ability to merge very complex documents with large datasets
Cons
- The "template builder" UI could use a refresh with a more modern UI
- Conga Solutions - would love to see a built in migrator of solutions from one org to the next
- Increase limits of rows retrieved above 25,000
- Reduced Time to generate documents (from 30 min per doc to < 1 min)
- Reduced complexity of template management (ability to have a single invoice template that is stored centrally and meets all requirements)
Documents are generated now based on the stage or a button click of a record. For example, when an invoice is posted, the invoice document is automatically merged and attached to the invoice record. Similarly, Project status reports are generated with a single click from the user.
