We use Composer in several ways, from generating our Agreements with customers to merging key details from related records into automated emails that allow us to maintain our customer relationships. The primary business problem that we implemented Composer for was to digitally transform the end of our sales process, which was a very manual process of entering details into a PDF agreement and handing it off to different departments after the sales process. After implementing Composer for this use case, we identified savings of approximately two FTEs worth of work.
  • Merges values across several related records.
  • Has a range of parameters that lets you customize your document generation.
  • Easily integrates into Salesforce.
Cons
  • The Template Builder needs attention it has not been updated in some time.
  • The parameter helper has been broken for some time and was a great tool for building solutions.
  • The UI for admins needs a face lift.
Composer works well for generating many types of documents. We have used it for sales agreements, operations, and design documents. We have also found it useful for merging field values into HTML email templates. However, if the document is more complex, such as a legal document where you need to swap out terms or sections, standard Composer is not great for this. Conga has other solutions that can handle these types of documents.

Perfect Solution Between Manual and CPQ.

Rating: 9 out of 10
August 12, 2024
Our organization wanted to generate quotes from Salesforce data without leaving the platform. We didn't want to implement a large and expensive solution like Salesforce CPQ, so we chose a solution that would allow us to plug and play Salesforce data into a template. Conga Composer was that solution, and we began to leverage several templates for customer and vendor outreach.
Cons
  • Customizing Individual Quotes.
  • Better UI for template design.
If you populate quotes with limited, basic information, this is a great intermediate solution between manual quote creation and using a large product like CPQ. There is a learning curve to using Conga Composer, but it's far less difficult and easier to support than CPQ.

Conga Composer for the win!

Rating: 8 out of 10

We use Conga Composer to streamline and automate the generation of complex proposals and contracts. The main business problems it addresses are the time-consuming and error-prone nature of manually creating these documents, especially when they require pulling data from multiple sources like Salesforce. Conga Composer allows us to automate this process, ensuring consistency and accuracy across our papers. The scope of our use case includes creating personalized customer proposals, generating contracts with dynamic content, and producing detailed sales reports. By integrating Conga Composer with Salesforce, we can pull real-time data, merge it into predefined templates, and generate polished documents with just a few clicks. This has significantly reduced the time spent on administrative tasks, allowing our team to focus more on strategic activities, and has improved our document creation process's overall efficiency and professionalism.
  • Customization
  • Integration with Salesforce.
  • Templated Proposals.
Cons
  • UI is a bit clunky.
  • Recalling proposals seems more difficult than it should be.
It is well suited for small to mid-sized growth companies looking for a customization solution.

We use Conga Composer to pull out our client reports monthly to send to our clients. We had a whole position to do this and it took them 30 days to do it, we now have eliminated a position and are able to complete the reports in about 4 days. It has saved so much time and money.
  • Connects with Salesforce
  • Produces Reports
Cons
  • Work better with the Salesforce lightning UI
  • Queries
Composer is great to set it and let it run! It isn't as intuitive but once you get the hang of it, it works and you don't have to make any adjustments. Rarely does it not work, which is great, it's a reliable software that gets the job done.
