Overall Satisfaction with DbVisualizer
I've been using it for nearly twenty years. Originally it was to have a good tool that could run against various vendor DB's {Oracle, Sybase, SqlServer) on Linux and Windows. Now I use it on Windows and Linux but primarily against PostgreSQL and Cockroach.
I use it for database schema development and various software engineering tasks. I even use it for producing simple ER diagrams and SQL performance interrogation.

Pros
- Working with various relational database vendors
- Running on various operating systems especially Linux based.
- Performant
- ER Diagrams
- Schema Management
Cons
- I honestly would love an emacs key binding for the editor. I would pay more for that. Honestly. Probably should provide VIM also to keep those savages happy. :)
- Probably support for non-relational DB's. Especially the new Vector DB's used for LLM's. Right now vectorDB's have NO tooling. It's awful. It's like coding on your hands and knees.
- I really can't produce numbers as I am typically an individual contributor but if things go wrong they ask me because the tooling most folks use are terrible. They don't realize until there is an issue.
Far easier and better to manage and use than pgadmin now that they botched the implementation.
I don't know how good erwin is now but it's a good example of a complete database schema management system which DbVisualizer is not.
