Overall Satisfaction with F5 Distributed Cloud WAF (Web Application Firewall)
Today we are using it to protect our external applications. We have distributed cloud using DNS to forward traffic to our one prem External BIG-IPs. We have 50 applications that are using F5 Distributed Cloud WAF today and we are looking to expand this in the near future.
Pros
- It works really well for ease of configuration. Being able to setup the level of security for High or Low accuracy
- It is really easy to create origin pools and point traffic using DNS to our on prem F5s to help protect our external applications.
Cons
- I know some of these products are on the road map but it would be really cool to be able to use F5 Distributed Cloud WAF to manage on prem F5s.
- This helps us quickly push out applications and security to our applications. It is so simple to perform these tasks in F5 Distributed Cloud WAF.
- We are also using the MSP side of it so we have support and are able to have F5 manage our solutions that can save us time.
We have been able to provide security to our external apps extremely fast and effectively. Right now we are just pointing to DNS and using our on prem F5s but in the future we expect that some of these apps will be hosted on F5 Distributed Cloud WAF making it even easier to manage.
Yes - It helps in the sense that management is all in one place. We don't have to go across multiple cloud load balancers that each have their own configuration. Using F5 Distributed Cloud WAF allows us to be able to manage those certificates and LBs all in one platform.
