Overall Satisfaction with Final Cut Pro

I use Final Cut Pro as an editing tool where I edit lots of videos like corporate, demos, events, and other videos. Final Cut Pro is a best-in-class editing tool, but with new enhancements, it lags behind its peers.

Pros

  • handle more completed edits well
  • timeline runs smooth even with heavy graphical elements
  • lots of template options to use

Cons

  • need more mature motion-graphics software support, like After Effects.
  • better collaborative workflow
  • better Media management
  • AI capabilities
  • low-cost ownership
  • speed up editing that finally increase revenue
  • ease of use no heavy lifting to train new staff
FCP is a legend in the editing field. I used FCP 7 from 2012 and then switched to FCP 10. FCP is good for quick-turnaround projects like social media, short reels, and events because it handles more complicated timelines well with its magnetic timeline ability, but now technology is changing. In fast-paced Davinci Resolve has all the capabilities inside it; Adobe has its own edge, so FCP is not a real successor in editing; it needs improvements as per new tech like collaboration, more app support like Adobe, and new and better AI capabilities that can keep it ahead of its peers, so it's good for people who do social media and short form as an individual, but yeah, for others, it may not be a better investment.
  • DaVinci Resolve
  • Adobe Premiere Pro
I choose FCP because I am an Apple user and use a MacBook Pro M3, and Final Cut Pro is best optimized with it. It doesn't work on Mac; it flows like water, so yeah, as an Apple user, FCP is my first choice. Another aspect is it's a low-cost solution, so it gives me lifetime access of use, so no need to buy yearly like Adobe. The main reason is its magnetic timeline that handles my chaos so I can focus on the creative side. Such beauty on Mac.

Do you think Final Cut Pro delivers good value for the price?

Yes

Are you happy with Final Cut Pro's feature set?

No

Did Final Cut Pro live up to sales and marketing promises?

Yes

Did implementation of Final Cut Pro go as expected?

Yes

Would you buy Final Cut Pro again?

Yes

FCP is well suited for social media projects where we need more elements such as graphics and the timeline is complicated, so it arranges heavy projects well with its magnetic timeline capability. It's also good for event videos because it contains all the footage inside, so there's no need to save it externally.
But it is weak to handle big studio collaborative projects because its collaboration capabilities are limited, and it has motion as a graphical tool, but it's not integrated like Fusion in DaVinci Resolve and After Effects. Its also not has advance AI capabilities like other software did.
