Overall Satisfaction with GTmetrix

We use GTmetrix on a regular basis throughout the organization, since it helps us get insights from website performance issues and what we can do to improve that.

It gathers data from PageSpeed, YSlow and Waterfall (like devtools), besides offering some paid features like timings, video and history.
  • Really complete report of performance issues.
  • Get reports from PageSpeed and YSlow at same time.
  • Gives a score from each separate tool, also displays loading time, page size and total requests very easily.
  • The user interface is a little bit confusing.
  • You can't choose a different test server (since we're from Brazil, it doesn't reflect exactly what most of our users are experiencing).
  • There's a wait time (queue) in case there are other users using the platform at the same time.
  • We can get more data in less time than other tools.
  • You don't need to install some application or browser extensions to use it.
  • You can access it on both desktop or mobile devices.
GTmetrix gathers data from both Google PageSpeed and YSlow at same time, so we're using it more often than Google's alternative.
On the other hand, Google PageSpeed offers neat features like download optimized images, scripts and CSS (which GTmetrix don't), so it could be a better option if you (or your client) need that.
GTmetrix is an excellent tool if you need insights and a complete report on your website's performance and what you can do about it. Google PageSpeed, for instance, offers more features in order to get better results.

Although the user interface is inferior, I rather use GTmetrix than PageSpeed or YSlow separately.
