Overall Satisfaction with HPE Juniper Access Points

We are a K12 School and have over 100 Juniper APs Deployed. They are very Robust and, paired with the Mist portal, they work great. The auto channeling and auto power are controlled and adjusted with state-of-the-art cloud AI. Most, if not all, problems are solved before you even know about them.

Pros

  • Wifi Insights for performance.
  • End user device stats and tracking.
  • Mapping for AP locations: Heatmaps.

Cons

  • AI Interface for specific device tracking.
  • Easier to find Historic Device tracking.
  • NAT Guest network setup for Guest networks.
  • IT support tickets for wireless problems reduced after the installation.
  • Performance increase and device compatibility improved instantly
  • Support, if needed, is easy to use with the great staff through the Mist Portal.
We used a reseller to help set up and initially manage the Juniper APs. Templates are set up and deployed to sites, and at first, it may seem complicated, with a slight learning curve. Once created and deployed, the overall management and usability are great. In summary, the initial setup takes some advanced knowledge of the Cloud Dashboard setup with templates. After that, it's easy to use and manage moving forward.
Meraki and Juniper both utilize cloud-based controllers. This enables easier configuration without requiring local controller hardware. Both Meraki and Juniper utilize AI to help manage their devices and make adjustments to keep the system running at optimal performance. Juniper does a lot better job of making changes to channeling and power settings.

In a high-density K-12 Deployment, Juniper outperforms most vendors. Hardware is superior in terms of durability, appearance, and functionality. The AI Cloud Controller is 2nd to none in monitoring performance and self-diagnostics. AP tools enable easy identification, testing, and troubleshooting of APs. Overall, when switching from a Cisco Meraki to Juniper, there is no comparison. We immediately saw a performance and reliability improvement.
