A safe choice!

Object Storage acts as our backbone for data used in our Machine Learning development. It allows cloud-based access to files. We can easily upload files through an API from our application and then use these in the ML model we are building in Watson Studio for our client. The main usage is storing images that are analysed with the Visual Recognition Service.

We have not used it so far but it is great to have a tool that can go beyond what we currently need. It feels like we have made a safe investment of our time in a platform that can expand to cover future needs when they come, also justifying our choices towards our clients.

We have not used IBM Aspera so far but it is great that such functionality is possible. We look forward to having a use case for this soon. When dealing with very large files, high-speed data transfers are crucial in order to accomplish the task in hand and provide a quick solution to the client.

Yes, different store class tiers can be very helpful in managing our costs. We are dealing with gigabytes of data which we use in training machine learning models. Keeping data in cold storage can allow us to retain these files in the IBM Cloud and access them at a later stage while keeping our costs manageable.
