Overall Satisfaction with IBM Cloud Object Storage

Our company will be soon providing our clients with consulting, training, support and deployment services on AI and machine learning technologies, and more in general on data science matters. IBM COS is our preferred solution when it comes to storing large amounts of data, thanks to its convenience, scalability and ability to perform in-the-cloud queries (via IBM SQL Query) and analytics.
  • High speed transfer of data to and from the COS.
  • High security standards.
  • I have no special improvement suggestion to make at this time.
  • Although it's a little bit too early for us to quantify an ROI in specific, objective terms, the feeling is that COS is an economically convenient ("pay-as-you-go"), scalable and user-friendly solution for data storage, whether it be for simply backing up data, or for data science applications.
Yes, the integration of COS with IBM SQL Query is very valuable for us, because it makes the data analysis workflow a lot simpler, easier, and faster, eliminating the need to transfer the data to other repositories and transform it along the way.
This feature is what makes IBM COS a great data storage solution for Big Data and AI applications. The data transfer performance (to and from COS) in terms of speed and reliability is truly tangible. We also like the simple and effective UI through which users can manage all the essential tasks about data and file transfer, with nice customization options.
No doubt that COS' policy-based storage classes are a differentiating feature, from both a performance and a cost perspective. It makes complete sense to do so (as data is not all equal, and application requirements are not all equal as well) and allow the service users to benefit with superior performances for the data that is used more actively and frequently.
As a data persistence tool I think it's a great partner to any data science team that already uses open-source and IBM technologies in its day-to-day job. In fact its integration with other IBM tools (and namely IBM Watson Studio) makes the whole workflow a lot easier and more intuitive.
