Overall Satisfaction with KeePassXC
I use it to access my KeePass files, which is where I store my personal passwords and passwords that are unique to me. I needed an offline way of securely storing my passwords and I wanted a way that was open source, so that the codebase can be audited. I also needed something that would run on Linux.
Pros
- Easy to use
- Secure, with a variety of encryption options
- Can perform autotype on Xorg
Cons
- Can't autotype on wayland
- Interface can be a little clunky at times
- It doesn't cost anything but does the job. No specific ROI impact.
KeePass isn't cloud based. This is both good and bad. It doesn't have a plugin for your browser (there is a plugin, but I've not had good luck using it.) I wanted to make sure my passwords were always secure, so I didn't want to use a public facing service. If I need sync to multiple devices, I just use Google Drive. You can also add additional layers of security by using key files. LastPass is more "turnkey" but I feel the KeePass beats it on security since you have an additional layer of not relying on a cloud service.
