Overall Satisfaction with Linode

[Linode is used] to run remote services for household users.

Pros

  • Ease of use
  • Straight forward billing
  • Comparable service features to "high end" providers

Cons

  • A distinguishing UI... or more detailed for advanced users or more simple for the novice users.
  • More pre-fab images to deploy.
  • More a-la-carte options per node.
  • Because my demand was low, there is value in Linode vs. on-prem hardware.
  • Better value than some of the "big guys" as long as there is no requirement for proprietary solutions they have.
Azure and AWS are priced out of the residential market. if looking for "home" hosting I have seen that there is real value in using Linode over the competition.

For me advanced enterprise level tools were not needed. I was looking for and use Linode for VPS services to operate these nodes as stand alone hosts.
I've opened one case ever. very helpful. "first call fix". Very happy with the experience. and haven't needed any more since.

I might not say "industry standard", but for someone with some knowhow that might be a bit more independent in regards to technology I would highly recommend [Linode]. for someone a bit more novice, it would be a harder recommendation even if a better value.

Using Linode

3 - They are personal services supplied to a family unit. They consume services offered on the Linode platform from instant messaging to web services for household activites.
1 - There is only one member of the organization who is the system admin for the Linode services.

It has worked very well for me and is affordable.
