Use Cases and Deployment Scope

Linode has been a trusted provider of cloud based infrastructure to our company for over 10 years. We have seen Linode grow from a small reliable cloud provider into a full featured platform with the same reliability and support. We no longer need to worry about hosting our software in house because Linode is a more cost effective platform.

Alternatives Considered

Prior to this we always used shared hosting. That limited our potential for growth and what kinds of data we could store for our customers. By switching to Linode, we could assure our customers of their privacy while providing a stable service. Customer service at other providers doesn't even begin to compare to the friendliness and knowledge of Linode staff.

Support Rating

I've had to contact support a number of times over the years for minor problems here and there. I have always received a prompt response that addressed the questions I asked. There were no boilerplate responses from these guys! I even called to ask for local currency once and they gave me a free month for the 'inconvenience!'

Total Cost of Ownership

When we initially started looking for a cloud provider, we were met with costs that were high for a new business just getting started. We found Linode had a reasonable cost with easy scalability. Linode has also made the value for your money go up over and over on their birthday. I have lost count of the number of free upgrades I've seen over the years.

Reliability

You need to be available when your customers need you. If our sites are down, we aren't making money! Linode has had a few minor outages over the years (and one big one) but they've always communicated the estimate time of restoral and the steps being taken to resolve the issue.

Linode is well suited for growth. You can easily start small while you are getting set up and Linode has everything you need to grow. More resources are readily available when needed. Linode's large worldwide footprint allows you to host where your customers are.

I find that Linodes block offerings are not as robust as they should be with a minimum block of 250gb.
