Overall Satisfaction

Marketo is being used by our B2B marketing team as well as our sales team. We use lead scoring as well as lots of the marketing automation tools to more efficiently manage leads in our customer database. We were among marketo's first 100 customers so from that standpoint we were early adopters. It was really easy to start using it because it is so well integrated with salesforce. We believe that the product delivers a lot of value vs the price that it actually is.
  • Marketo was easier to use and more intuitive than eloqua (eloqua seemed harder to use in the demos at the time)
  • Marketo was a cheaper than eloqua
  • Marketo is headquarted in the San Francisco, where we are, so it felt a little easier to get support given how close we are to each other
  • At the time, our sales team was using email templates with tokens (dynamic content). The preview of the email would show the token key instead of the actual value, and sales people were not confident that the system would correctly apply the data before sending the mail, so they would manually edit the email and replace the tokens with actual values (which is time intensive).
  • I think the biggest impact is very simply being able to implement marketing campaigns easily that, without marketo, we wouldn't have been able to attempt. We have not bothered trying to calculate the "ROI of marketo" because we simply feel like we can't live without it.
  • Eloqua,Pardot
Pardot was not in the same league as Marketo, so for us, the decision came down to marketo vs eloqua. We chose marketo because it had a simpler UI, was more intuitive, and also cheaper. Another part of the decision was that marketo is headquarted in San Francisco and at the time many of their early customers were in San Francisco, so we felt it would be easier to hire marketers with marketo experience in our market than eloqua.
We have already renewed our 2 yr contract with marketo.
Marketo pricing model and scale are only appropriate for B2B applications. The pricing is too expensive for b2C applications of high volume (like a retailer). We use different email service provider for our B2C business and we use marketo for B2B.
