Overall Satisfaction with Microsoft BI

Microsoft BI is used by everyone in my organisation as a back-end solution. We use different tools which use SQL Server and SSIS as an ETL platform and SSAS only to store Cubes for further processing with Excel or any other tool supporting SSAS.
  • Quite nice ETL options in SSIS that enable a lot of flexibility.
  • Powerful user rights management.
  • Ease of use - this tool is difficult to use.
  • Native visualization tool - Excel is too unstable.
There are many other tools out there which are easier to use and provide better visualization side.
Everyone uses it around my company. Mostly as BI professionals that use it to create BI solutions.
It's weak, and that's it. You need external tools or a lot of knowledge to load data on SQL Server in order to use it in Microsoft stack.
Security is very good with a lot of options, for sharing you need yet another solution on the visualization side, which makes another point where something might go wrong.
Since Microsoft BI uses Excel as a visualization tool there is no native visualization tool in it. Of course almost everyone has Excel but still it leads to situation where you have to buy another solution to present data prepared via SQL, SSIS and SSAS. Also after certain point Excel data consistency is hard to maintain.
Microsoft BI is not recommended if you do not have a specialist already on board because you need one with this tool.
