Overall Satisfaction with Oracle WebLogic Application Server

We are using Oracle WebLogic as our fraud application (Tombeller Siron Suite) and Oracle OFSAA (LFRM) application. The Siron WebLogic system serves all bank financial transactions, like Swift. LFRM is a finance management application. Mainly our finance and risk departments are using this application.
  • First reason: it's easy to manage. There are many management services we are using, and this service gives us flexibility.
  • Second reason is redundancy. We are using high availibility features for mission critical services.
  • Security. Oracle publishes new security patches and upgrades often.
  • Licensing model is complex.
  • VMware support and certified features are very important, and also whether or not WebLogic supports and is certified to VMware virtualization. We can use more WebLogic systems.
  • WebLogic is an expansive solution. But if you need high availability, it's logical to use.
  • For some projects, we cannot explain why we use WebLogic because of project size and cost efficiency.
  • Additionally, WebLogic isn't certified on VMware. It's a problem when we are deploying the software. Sometimes we need hardware for that reason.
We tested Red Hat JBoss. Then we decided to use WebLogic because of support issues we had with the other.
If you have mission critical services, and you need high availability, WebLogic is suitable for using there.
But if you have a small project, sometimes WebLogic licenses are too expensive.
