Overall Satisfaction with Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform
We use Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform to assist with the deployment and configuration of compute, storage and network devices. We also use it for managing the life cycle of virtual machines, both Windows and RHEL.
Pros
- Infrastructure as Code
- Orcestration
- Onboarding new teams and allowing seperation
- Privately hosting collections and execution environments
- Offline installations
Cons
- Dynamic surveys would be very helpful
- Meta data for Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform objects for reporting
- Playbook output needs to be improved, the std out isn't very clean and can be difficult to comb through
- It has reduced time to delivery for several of our processes
- It has allowed for us to increment and improve on automated processes more quickly
- It has allowed for a standardized code base across our organization thereby enabling teams to contribute/collaborate across traditional silos
- vRealize Orchestrator (discontined) and vRealize Suite & vcloud Suite (discontinued)
vRealize Automation and Orchestrator has a more robust UI. However, both vRA and vRO lack modern Source Control and CICD features, which makes these products cumbersome to manage. Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform has strong Source Control and CICD integrations, as well as allows for the platform to be managed entirely as Code.
