Overall Satisfaction with SAP Integrated Business Planning

I worked on the definition of the architecture and on the implementation of IBP.
Our main issues is the use of the excel addon, we have a problem with authentication security.
It would be great to only have the online version of IBP, without using Excel.

Pros

  • Planification

Cons

  • Use of Excel addon (would be better to only have the web app)
  • Allow us to put in place longterm forecast
Could be better without Excel addon
  • Integration with Other Systems
  • Ease of Use

I am very surprised you consider IBP Excel Add-on as a weak point. I would say that this is exactly IBP's strength. You need to think that IBP is not an IT tool, but a planning tool which is used by planners. Do you know which app planners use themselves? Microsoft Excel! It's a planner's best friend or ally. If SAP would not have used the Excel Add-on, IBP would not have been a success story. Period! SAP managed to put different solutions for signing-in in IBP Excel, starting from classical user & password approach to SSO or MFA. If you would have only IBP Web UI, 100% guarantee that every planner would extract all Web UI data in an Excel format and work there. Just ask APO planners.
